Clever Tricks

The enormous crocodile tried four clever tricks to catch some children to eat.

What were the 4 clever tricks?

  • First he pretended to be a coconut tree.
  • Next, he made himself look like a seesaw.
  • Then he pretended he was a roundabout ride.
  • Finally, he made himself look like a picnic bench.

What to do

Work with a friend to invent two more clever tricks for the enormous crocodile to try.

  1. Give each trick a name.
  2. Write about each trick (about 3 or 4 sentences).
  3. Draw a picture to show each trick.

Process #5

Don't Let Me Go!!

Imagine you are the enormous crocodile. You have to persuade the elephant not to whiz you into space. You have to think up why you behaved like you did and how to make up for the damage you have caused.

What to do?

  • Think of good reasons why you acted as you did.
  • Explain how what you did helped, rather than hurt people.
  • Convince the elephant that you didn't do what you they say you did.
  • List the ways in which you can fix the damage you caused.
  • Explain how sorry you are and how you won't do any of these terrible things again.

How can you present your work?

  • You could write a letter to give to the elephant and those that you hurt.
  • You could write a letter to the elephant, saying why you should be given another chance.

* Click on the crocodile to open the document that you need. Print it out and do the work by yourself. Research some interesting excuses if you can.

Process #6

Crocodile Advertisement!

The enormous crocodile needs money to pay for all the damage he has caused in the story. He wants to earn this by acting in advertisements. You are going to design one of these advertisements.

What could he advertise?

Think about the sorts of things the enormous crocodile could sell. For example, crocodiles are experts on teeth. (They certainly have enough of them!)

The enormous crocodile might advertise things like:

  • watery things or
  • anything with jaws or teeth.

What should be in the advertisement?

  • A picture of the enormous crocodile and what he is selling.
  • A sentence or slogan about the thing.
  • Information about what he is selling, written in an exciting way. Remember, you want people to notice your advertisement and buy the product!

* Click on the crocodile to open the document that you need. Print it out and do the work on a piece of A3 paper. Ask your teacher for paper if you need to.

** If you have any proplems or need some online help, contact your teacher through the school's intranet.
